Aberystwyth Castle, New Promenade, Aberystwyth, Ceredigion This castle was originally built in the 13th century, and though only ruins remain today it is still an important relic after surviving two separate uprisings. The ruins overlook the sea, and the war memorial which dates back to 1919 offers great views over the bay. The gardens have been well maintained however, and are home to a kid’s playground and picnic area. Reviewed by: Leila Hawkins
