Bessemer, Alabama, United States of America
Alabama Adventure is one of that state’s most popular theme parks.
One of their newest attractions is a water ride called Buzzsaw Falls. A popular ride format, this is a boat which plunges down a five storey tower, resulting in a wall of water which thoroughly drenches riders … and those waiting in line!
An older, but still very exciting ride in the park is Rampage, Alabama Adventure’s wooden roller coaster. The first drop on Rampage is over 30 metres (100 feet), resulting in a top speed of over 88 kmph (55 mph). There are 13 curves on this machine, which cost about US$4,000,000 to build.
The park’s biggest steel roller coaster is called Zoomerang. As you can probably tell from its name, it is a boomerang-style roller coaster. Ironically, it was actually moved to Bessemer from Australia after its home park there went out of business. In a boomerang-style roller coaster, the train is initially pulled up a lift backwards. After that, it zooms back through the station and then goes through three inversions, up a hill and through it all again … backwards!
