Woodstock, England, United Kingdom
Blenheim Palace is most famous as the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, one of England’s greatest ever prime ministers, but it is also home to the 11th Duke and Duchess of Marlborough. The palace is set on 2100 acres of sweeping landscape and features a large lake in its centre.
The palace was named as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987 and you can visit the palace and see some of the most stunning royal treasures that have been collected in the past 300 years. The stunning palace was a gift to the first Duke of Marlborough who played a significant role as military commander in ensuring Britain’s victory over the French in the Wars of the Spanish Succession.
Today the palace is open to the public to take guided tours through the State Rooms that include rich tapestries, portraits and antiques. At times there may also be tours of the family’s private apartments.
