Brazil Mountain Biking

Are you a keen mountain biker who’s in need of the quintessential, rest and relaxation holiday? You’d like a bit of active fun thrown in, though; a bit of scenic riding, stays in comfortable pousadas and fresh seafood dinners in the evening. Brazil delivers on this front in a big way.

Famous for the crowded beaches of Rio and Sao Paolo, Brazil actually has many off-the-beaten-path places where a weary, sun-deprived cyclist may go to find serene riding. The odd climb or slice of singletrack may be thrown in, but with the comforts of a well-planned tour awaiting them at the end of each day’s journey.

A visit to the southern areas of the lovely island of Santa Catarina of Florianópolis, or Floripa, is just such a destination for those longing for pristine beaches, with trails to ride nearby and plenty of countryside to take in from the vantage point of a bike saddle. Secluded waterfalls and lakes are a perfect day’s destination and can be reached via trails that travel along conservation areas and parks, and yet are near to the amenities a beach culture offers: delicious seafood, après-ride drinks and evening relaxation.
