Calaway Park is western Canada’s largest, outdoor theme park. Close to Calgary, in Alberta, this park currently offers over 30 rides, 20 food stalls and over 25 games. Calaway Park covers over 90 acres and has been open since 1982.
One of the park’s biggest and most popular attractions is a roller coaster named the Vortex. It begins at a height of 21 metres (70 feet) and riders go through a double corkscrew whilst enjoy a thrilling ride. The coaster has gone by different names in years past, the Turn of the Century and Corkscrew, but it has been known as the Vortex since 2005.
Calaway Park’s other very popular attraction is the Dream Machine. Fairly new, this ride has been open since 2007. The Dream Machine is a 56 passenger swing ride, which pivots and tilts as it swings. This is definitely not a children’s swing ride.
For those families bringing smaller children, be sure to check out the children’s area. With over 11 rides and attractions, plus several more suitable for the whole family, there is sure to be something for every kid to fall in love with.
