The Cape Byron Lighthouse at Byron Bay is located at Australia’s most easterly point on the mainland and is also Australia’s most powerful lighthouse.
It is 3 kms east of the town and is easily accessible by foot which is advisable as, being a major attraction, parking close to the lighthouse can be a problem. The view is spectacular and the lighthouse is now used for whale watching.
There are over 500,000 visitors per year.
