Cataract Gorge Reserve

Launceston, Tasmania, Australia

Possibly one of the most spectacular natural attractions around the Launceston area, Cataract Gorge is simply breathtaking in its beauty. When you enter the reserve from the car park, and walk past the ticket stand (for the chairlift ride), you will see tree-covered mountains surrounding the Tamar River, as well as numerous walking paths. In contrast to all the greenery is a public swimming pool and kiosk, and a restaurant with cliff-top views. Peacocks roam the European-inspired lawns and native creatures dig around in the bushes. If you walk along Alexandra Bridge, you’ll be able to get a great view of the entire gorge, including the river flowing beneath you. Definitely bring your camera if you visit this place.
