Ullapool, Scotland, United Kingdom
Located on the Inverness road, a few miles to the east of Ullapool, the Corrieshalloch Gorge is a spectacular cleft in the landscape that holds the Falls of Mesach. Surrounded by beautiful woodland, the noise of the falls drowns out the noise of traffic from the nearby road and, with very little effort, it’s easy to feel miles from anywhere. For those with a head for heights and a trust of engineering, there is a rather flimsy looking and bouncy suspension bridge that crosses the gaping chasm. It provides an amazing vantage point to view the falls and the gorge. Slightly further downstream is an even flimsier looking wooden viewing platform which is suspended over a huge amount of empty space.
