Cumberland Island on the Eastern Coast Georgia is a place of great natural beauty and is one of the top rated beaches in the world. The large barrier island is home to beautiful lush forests that stretch toward the sea before yielding to rolling beaches of Golden sand.

The island is not far from the Florida border and enjoys the same temperate tropical climate, with warm temperatures year round. The huge natural reserves here make for excellent hiking and exploration of the gorgeous natural surroundings.

One of the main draws here is that the island is a natural reserve and thus its long rolling shores have remained unspoiled unlike many other beautiful beaches which have succumb to mass tourism. F

ormer home to the wealthy Carnegie family whose mansion on the southern end of the island burned down in 1959, but the ruins still remain for adventure seeking tourists with a yearning for historical facts of the island.

Wild horses run free in the gorgeous well preserved surroundings and it is easy to see why this beach is rated as one of the best and most unique beaches in the world.
