Dreamworld

Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia

User Rating     : 5 out of 5

Australia’s largest theme park is located on the Gold Coast in Queensland. Dreamworld features over 27 rides, including four roller coasters. It also boasts a sister water park called Whitewater World, which opened in 2006.

Besides its reputation for being Australia’s largest amusement park, Dreamworld is notable for being the location of the Australian ‘Big Brother’ house for eight years.

One of the thrilling roller coasters that visitors can ride is the Cyclone. This is a high-speed, gravity, steel coaster, one of the tallest in the southern hemisphere. The two minute ride features two inversions and it pulls three Gs on the ride.

Another attraction of note is the Giant Drop. Opening in 1998, it has the distinction of being the world’s tallest vertical drop ride. Riders are taken to such heights as 119 metres (390 feet) before experiencing the thrill of a freefall. The drop is at a speed of 135 kmph (84 mph) and there is a full five seconds of freefall before the braking system kicks in.

Located close to the Gold Coast in Queensland is this major theme park with loads of rides, displays, entertainment and fun for the whole family. There are plenty of shopping and food outlets. There is also some great wildlife to see and Tiger Island is home to both Bengal and Sumatran tigers which can be observed in safety.
