Dubai, United Arab Emirates
The opening of the par 71 course at Dubai Creek occurred during the explosion of golf in the Emirates during the early 90’s. With its iconic clubhouse shaped in the form of a dhow’s sails, a floodlit par three course, top-rated restaurants and an outstanding golf course, this is a must-see in Dubai. Superbly manicured fairways are undulating and lined with palm trees, the greens are sloping and quick. The Dubai Creek which gives the course its name comes into play on four holes, with several artificial lakes adding to the beauty and difficulty of a number of the other holes.
The two par 4 closing holes present a brilliant close to an excellent course. Both holes have the Creek on the entire left side of the fairway. The 17th green lies in a narrow stretch of land between the Creek and a water feature on the right, plus a massive bunker guards the front left of the inverted green. The 18th requires a good drive, with water on the left and a long bunker on the right, beyond which is water again. A good drive will leave a long iron over the water into the tiered and sloping green, which is surrounded by water at the front and right with three bunkers on the left.
