Esplanade Market

St Kilda, Melbourne, Australia

If you’re looking for a unique, handcrafted gift for someone- or even shopping for yourself- the Esplanade Market in St Kilda is definitely worth a visit. Held every Sunday along the Upper Esplanade (from Luna Park to Catani Gardens), this market showcases over 150 local artisans who sell their wares to the general public. Among the items available for purchase are pieces of jewellery, homewares, textiles and clothing, paintings, photography, woodwork and beauty products. Many of the stallholders are happy to talk about their work, and some even do demonstrations of the creative processes involved during the making of their products. This is a great place to pick up souvenirs of Melbourne or statement pieces for your home and lifestyle. While most of the items available to purchase are quite affordable, there are some stalls where prices can get quite high, but this is only indicative of the quality of the products and the time involved in making them. All of the artworks sold at this market are handmade (not imported) and stallholders have strict guidelines about what they can and cannot sell, so you can be assured that you will be buying quality pieces of workmanship. The Esplanade Market runs from 10am to 5pm every Sunday.
