Galaxyland used to be called Fantasyland. It is in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and is an indoor amusement park.
In addition to being the home of the Space Shot, which is the tallest, indoor tower ride in the world topping in at 12 stories high, it is also the home of the Mindbender, which is the world’s longest and tallest, indoor roller coaster. During the second loop, the ride reaches its maximum G-force, which is over five Gs. During the busiest seasons, one of the cars is reversed, allowing guests to ride backwards throughout the duration of the ride. Either way, it is breathtaking.
Most, if not all, of the rides at Galaxyland fit the space-theme embodied by their mascot, Cosmo. For example, there is the Galaxy Orbiter. Although not quite as thrilling as the Mindbender, it is more intense the Autosled, which is a significantly milder ride. Galaxy Orbiter happens to be Canada’s first spinning coaster.
Even the more traditional rides fit the space theme. This fact is exemplified by the bumper cars, which are called Cosmo’s Space Derby.
