H’Mong Night Market

Luang Prabang, Laos

The Night Market of the H’Mong tribe is often a highlight of a visit to Luang Prabang. The main street is closed off to traffic so the vendors can set up their displays of handcrafted goods on the pavement. The products are interesting and this is the only place I’ve seen many of the beautifully handcrafted goods. I was there two years ago and the handcrafts were displayed out under the stars and it was particularly atmospheric to wander as darkness fell. However, most of the vendors now have open sided tent like structures and the market has lost a little of its appeal. It’s still worth visiting and I met other travelers who went there every night of their stay in Luang Prabang. The goods are so cheap you can buy all your gifts and momentos here. The bargaining very good natured. Tip: Get there early and watch the vendors set up their wares. Location Th Sisavangvong.
