Hong Kong Disneyland

Hong Kong, China

Hong Kong Disneyland opened to visitors in 2005. It has the smallest daily visitor capacity of all the Disney parks (34,000), but it is still a fantastic theme park. Disney attempted to curb potential criticism and cultural backlash by striving to include Chinese customs and traditions.

It consists of four main areas, which are Main Street USA, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland and Adventureland. Three new, themed areas have been announced and are scheduled to all be open by 2014. These areas are Grizzly Gulch, Toy Story Land and Mystic Point.

Adventureland in Hong Kong Disneyland is the largest of all the Adventurelands. It features the famous Jungle Cruise ride as well as the Festival of the Lion King show. This show is notable for being slightly different than the one running in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Hong Kong Disneyland’s version has been arranged to tell a simple version of the movie plot and songs from the movie are performed.

Another attraction of note is Disney in the Stars, a nighttime fireworks show. Fireworks and pyrotechnics are synchronised to classic Disney tunes, such as A Whole New World.
