Kings Park and Botanic Garden

Perth, Western Australia, Australia

Kings Park and Botanic Garden is only 1.5 km from the Perth Central Business District and overlooks the Swan River. The park is set on 400.6 hectares and has an amazing 319 species of plants with around 80 different bird species to be found. Around two thirds of the parks is native bushland although there are beautifully maintained gardens as well as large open spaces. The Kings Park and Botanic Garden is very popular for picnics, ceremonies, cultural events or just a pleasant walk. There is a lot of conservation and research carried out here by the Botanic Garden and Parks Authority who can often offer assistance to special groups. Guided walks are a feature of the park as well as many self guided walks. This is a very pleasant and free form of entertainment right beside the river.
