Lake Tahoe Mountain Biking

Lake Tahoe, California, United States of America

The Tahoe Rim Trail at Lake Tahoe, California, dubs itself “a trail like no other”. The trail is 266 km (165 miles) long and loops from one high point to another around the lake. With the exception of a couple segments, most of this world-class trail is open to mountain biking. Please follow the guidelines suggested to prevent undue erosion of the sandy soil.

Want an epic, advanced ride? Try 32 kilometres (20 miles) of technical riding, starting near the Stagecoach chair lift and eventually finishing at Oneidas Road. You’ll encounter lots of intense climbing, but just when you think you can’t take any more, the payoff comes with lots of sweet downhill.

Looking for a ride to take a child on? One great option is the Fallen Leaf Lake Flats. It’s a total of eight kilometres (five miles), with more than half the distance on a sealed surface.

Wishing you had a friend in the area with whom you could arrange a shuttle? Check out one of the companies that exist solely to provide you the service of driving you and your bicycle to an upper trailhead.

Lake Tahoe offers unlimited riding possibilities and, to round out your holiday, try your luck at a casino or two in Nevada.
