Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary

Brisbane, Queensland, Australia

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary in Brisbane has something to interest most people. It is one of the largest sanctuaries in the world with around 130 koalas. In addition to the koalas, there are kangaroos, Tasmanian devils, platypuses, wombats, dingoes, echidnas and many kinds of reptiles. There is an amazing array of birdlife as well and the sanctuary is in a natural bush land setting. Cuddle a koala, feed the kangaroos and lorikeets, see the sheep dogs and you can even hold a snake. There are two cafes where you can buy all kinds of food, or you can bring a picnic lunch as there are some good spots near the river to sit and relax. Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary can be accessed by car, bus or aboard the Miramar which departs the Cultural Centre Pontoon, South Bank, Brisbane, daily at 10am. The sanctuary is situated at 708 Jesmond Road, Fig Tree Pocket, Queensland and is open seven days a week.
