Ludlow Castle

Ludlow, Shropshire, United Kingdom

User Rating     : 4 out of 5

Ludlow Castle is a typical, traditional, medieval English castle which dates from the Norman invasion of England in 1066. The castle has a colourful, interesting and rich history and the building itself overlooks the river.

You can hire boats in the summer and row along the river under the shade of the trees and the looming presence of Ludlow Castle. Reviewer: Adam Croft

Ludlow Castle is where the English and the Welsh fought their battles; it’s also where Henry VIII’s first wife Catherine of Aragon and Queen Mary I lived for a while. These days the castle hosts music and food festivals and quite a few visitors, but the atmosphere is still there and you can really imagine what life used to be like, the smell in the dungeons is very realistic. For some of the best views go to Whitcliffe which overlooks the castle, it's pretty spectacular.
