Luna Park

Sydney, New South Wales, Australia

Luna Park is the place to head if you are looking for some thrills of the mechanical kind in Sydney. The location itself warrants a visit as the park overlook Sydney Harbour from its site at the Sydney Harbour Bridge northern pylon. Since the park opened in 1935 it has become an icon in the city for fun and good times. There is no entry fee to the park, you are free to wander around and pay for rides or games as you wish. It is generally more economical however, to buy the unlimited rides pass. There are all your classic side show alley style games and rides at the park as well as shows and food. One of the best things to do if you are a visitor to Sydney is to take a ride on the ferris wheel for incredible views out over the harbour from the top. One of my favourites is always the Wild Mouse roller coaster, which was originally built in the early sixties. It packs fun and childhood nostalgia into one package.
