Mary McKillop Interpretive Centre

Penola, South Australia, Australia

Located in Portland Street, Penola, Saint Mary of the Cross, along with Father Julian Woods, founded the Sisters of Saint Joseph here and, in 1867, a schoolhouse was built for Mary McKillop to teach the local children. Buildings include the old school house, original convent and St Josephs Church on the grounds of the original. The botanical garden here is also worth a look. Apart from the buildings themselves and the gardens, there are many other displays in the centre.
