National Zoo and Aquarium

National Zoo and Aquarium is a combined attraction and the only one of its kind in Australia. There are animals from all over the world including lions, tigers and bears, monkeys, giraffe and otters. Then of course there are Australian native animals. The aquarium houses large sharks and stingrays, tropical fish and many other species. There are some beautiful displays of coral. There is also a inland freshwater display with many fish and animals that are at home in this environment. See frogs, snakes, lizards and alligators. Set on 7 acres of land the National Zoo and Aquarium is a great day out and there are plenty of spots for a picnic and free BBQ facilities are available. There are talks, animal feeding and guided tours. There are kiosks and a gift shop where you can buys gifts and souvenirs of your visit. Open 7 days a week except for Christmas day. Located at Lady Denmam Drive, about 9 kms from the centre of Canberra.
