Oak Hill Country Club

Rochester, New York, United States of America

Like many clubs which have a course in the World Top 100 list, Oak Hill has a second lesser-known but equally entertaining course. The East course is the clubs championship course and has hosted many USGA and PGA events, including the Rider Cup, US Open and will be home for the 2013 PGA Championship for the third time. No other US course has hosted as many Majors. The club is housed on pristine grounds and visitors are confronted with the sight of the massive Tudor-styled clubhouse after a long drive through the grounds. If your golf game deserts you on the day, there is always the possibility to redeem yourself on the 8 lane bowling alley contained in the clubhouse.

The East course has narrow fairways lined with mature oaks and maples, and water hazards that come into play on five of the holes, demanding accuracy from the tee. The greens are fast and sloped to add to the difficulty of achieving a good score. Despite the difficulties, the course rewards good play. On the par three 6th hole, four players recorded holes-in-one in the first 90 minutes of the 1989 US Open. Bear that in mind when you are looking for a lucky break on the course.
