Palazzo dei Normanni & Capella Palatina

Palermo, Sicily, Italy

User Rating     : 4 out of 5

Grandly situated in the historic port of Palermo in Sicily, the Palazzo dei Normanni & Capella Palatina serve as a main tourist attraction in the city. Many would argue that this is the top attraction on the entire island. For a taste of the past and a look into one of the many peoples who once ruled this gorgeous island the Norman Palace is a must see. Rich with history and beautiful mosaics this guided tour is not to be missed if staying in Palermo. The tour costs just 7.30 Euro total for the tour of the Chapel as well as the palace. The attraction is very well run and taken care of and has been restored extremely well. It can be quite a touristy site, so be prepared for long lines and it is best to get here early. It isn’t hard to find, located nearby the Plaza Indipendenzia in Palermo, and guides speaking many different languages can easily be found for guided tours.

  1. Beautiful Inside and Out 4 out of 5

We did a tour of the Norman Palace in 2009 and it was definitely worth seeing. The tour will take you to the top floor of the palace, which if the windows are open like they were when we visited, will provide a beautiful view for miles of Palermo. The outside grounds are pretty too and it's a nice walk to get there. Get there early though---if you get there late the lines can be long and you run the risk of a long wait.
