Kaafu Atoll, Maldives
Pasta Point is that perfect peeling wave drawn on the corner of surfer’s note books the world over. It is not a mutant slab or a surging death pit or even an intense Mentawaii tube. It’s just right. A turquoise peeling left with a steep (but make-able) take-off, a straight forward tube section, then an open wall for a few arcing turns and speedy inside tuck-in tube before exit.
Pasta Point is the most consistent and least wind affected wave in the Maldives. It is also the one of the least crowded waves in the Maldives. The reason being that only guests of a certain resort can surf the break and surfers are limited to 30 at any one time. It is more of a once in a lifetime treat than an annual surf trip destination.
While access to Pasta Point is restricted there are plenty of other high quality reef breaks in the Maldives with similar user friendly reputations. Sultans is a famous right breaking on the other side of the same passage as Pasta Point.
Pasta Point is most consistent from June through to August when south to southeast swells roll in and the monsoon weather pattern is in force. Northwest winds are offshore.
