Port Arthur Historical Sites

Hobart, Tasmania, Australia

Port Arthur is a great place to visit with so much diverse history in one place. You will see the prison site, the convict church, hospital, coal mines, museum and much more. You will learn about the free settlers that came here, convicts, wardens and the families of all. There are a number of tours you can take such as the Ghost Tour where you can experience Port Arthur by night and join the lantern lit tour or an Introductory Tour and harbor Cruise may be more to your liking then getting back to things a little more spooky is the Isle of the Dead Cemetery Tour, located in the harbor there were more than 1000 burials here. A visit to these historical sites is well worth the trip as you learn about the lives of those who struggled in this area. The area of Port Arthur is looked after by the Port Arthur Historical Site Management Authority at Arthur Highway, Port Arthur.
