Red Bridge

Campbell Town, Tasmania, Australia

The oldest convict-built bridge in Australia, made from red bricks, Red Bridge is one of the key attractions of this small Tasmanian town. It is well worth walking down the main street to best appreciate the heritage building and then ending your walk at the bridge, where there is a neat little park (complete with a playground and picnic tables). While the bridge itself is quite amazing, considering it was completed in 1838, you absolutely must look at the statues that have been carved from large old tree stumps nearby. The details etched onto the animals and human figures are just unbelievable to look at and make the carvings look incredibly lifelike.
