Salamanca Place

Hobart, Tasmania, Australia

Salamanca Place is a popular spot to go for a coffee, snack and a bit of shopping. What are now cafes and commercial premises were once warehouses for the port of Hobart Town. These rows of sandstone buildings have been preserved and are now in constant use. St David’s Park at the northern end of Salamanca Place is a popular lunchtime spot for office workers and a set of steps know as Kelly’s Steps are between two buildings and lead to historic Battery Point. Saturdays are extremely busy at Salamanca Place with the Markets seeing many streets closed. Local stall holders sell arts and crafts, local produce etc whilst buskers keep everyone entertained. This is an ideal spot for a wander and a bit of time out. Located on the waterfront of Hobart.
