Seminole Golf Club

Juno Beach, Florida, United States of America

Built in the style of a Scottish links course, Seminole has lots of water in play, few trees and the Atlantic as a constant companion. Host to kings and presidents the club does not allow cameras in the change rooms, widely considered to be the best in the world, to protect the privacy of its famous guests. This is one of the most exclusive clubs in the world. Jack Nicklaus was reportedly turned down for membership – if you get the opportunity, grab it with both hands.

The course does not have many ocean views, is not over watered and doesn’t feature extravagant landscaping. It is rather a chess game of golf where your strategy on the day will determine how well you fare. Being close to the coast means contending with the wind, and it could be coming from any direction on any given day, that makes this course play an infinite number of ways. The hole most talked about by members is the long par three 17th. Teeing off from the dunes, the wind mostly pushes in from the left off the ocean leaving the option of aiming for the bunker and relying on the wind or hoping that it won’t veer off too far from a center line. It’s one of the most difficult shots in golf.
