Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian

New York City, United States of America

User Rating     : 5 out of 5

Located at the tip of Manhattan in the historic former U.S. Customs House, The Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian has over one million objects in the Indian collection amassed by George Gustav Heye, who spent much of his life searching for and buying Indian artifacts. The exhibits are really evocative of early American Indian life, and considering that admission is free, this is a wonderful sightseeing destination when you visit New York! 1 Bowling Green New York, New York 10004

  1. Amazing Museum for Anyone Interested in Native American Culture 5 out of 5

From early childhood I've always had a fascination for Native American history. I didn't know about this museum before I stumbled upon it by accident, but I'd recommend it to anyone who shares my interest. Apart from the diversity of the exhibits, what I thought particularly fascinating was that this all stemmed from one person's passion. It's a large and very interesting collection - one that I would have had no hesitation in paying to see!
