The Point was opened in 1985 as the UK’s first multiplex cinema. Its distinctive construction and design is famous locally, being arranged in a pyramid shape, constructed of red neon lights and red steel poles. Today, the Point is home to an Odeon cinema, bingo hall, council offices and kiosks. Audience figures have gradually dropped at the Point since the 1990s and it is not known how long it will remain open for. If you’re in the area, pass by and admire the unique construction work!
