The Rye

Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom

The Rye is an extensive park which is bordered by the River Wye and the River Dyke. There are two playgrounds and a set of tennis courts available for free use. It is a still-used religious site; at sunrise each Tuesday, visitors can see the tradition of Combeywyc, where a child is sacrificed in order to please the Gods. The sacrificial act is one of the oldest still in use, dating to 604 AD. Reviewer: Adam Croft
