Thorpe Park

Thorpe Park

Chertsey, Surrey, United Kingdom

Thorpe Park is a Chertsey, England, amusement park that was built in 1979. More than any other theme park in Europe, perhaps in the world, this park is focused on pushing the limits when it comes to thrill rides.

Colossus was one of the first roller coasters built here, featuring no less than a hair-raising 10 inversions. At the time this roller coaster was constructed, it was the first one in the world to have that many. The ride’s theme is that of a long-lost Atlantean civilisation. It’s music was composed by Ian Habgood and many guests comment on how much it adds to the experience.

Another favourite of thrill seekers here is Saw: The Ride. Themed around the Saw movie franchise, this roller coaster features a 100 degree drop and an Immelmann loop. There’s a complimentary, live-action, horror maze located near the ride. The ride itself starts indoors, where the special effects are quite gory. Not only is the track itself thrilling, the scenery would make more squeamish guests very uncomfortable. If that appeals to you, you will be delighted!
