The famous site of the ball drop at midnight on New Year’s Eve every year, Times Square is home to the theater district of New York City. Located around 42nd Street, even during the day the millions and millions of lights in the huge billboards all around you will dazzle your eyes. At night it is almost blindingly beautiful. You will find yourself looking up at the buildings a lot for the entertaining advertisements and interesting architecture. You can fan out from Times Square and find a treasure trove of entertainment from movies to Broadway shows. There is also a lot of shopping to be done there and a huge variety of restaurants for every budget. Hint: for discount Broadway and off-Broadway show tickets, visit the TKTS stand in the middle of Times Square.

   You simply can't visit NYC without seeing Times Square. It's where all the action is, and it located in the heart of Manhattan. We visited twice. During the day you will be intrigued by the hustle and bustle of the city, and at night you will be impressed by all the lights and billboards. Definitely a must-see!

   There's something in the air at Times Square, you can almost hear the heartbeat of the city as tourists mingle with Big Apple natives amid the lights and noise. It's easy to feel overwhelmed at the bustle of such a busy area so avoid it at rush hours if possible. I found it much easier to find what I was looking for at night when there were less people around. The familiar sights of Time Square are so much bigger and more intense in real life than they are on TV. If you want to see a show, get to TKTS as early in the day as you can and expect gueues during high season.
