Tusenfryd

Oslo, Norway

The English translation of the name of this Norwegian park, Tusenfryd, is ‘thousand joys’. It also means ‘common daisy’. Either way, this is a really great park. Of course there are roller coasters, but there are also other types of rides.

The Nightmare, for example, is what is known as a ‘shooting, dark ride’. A dark ride is indoors, and, quite literally, dark. Throw in some laser guns, a score-keeping system and some themed decorations and you have one of the most popular, new styles of rides in the entire theme park industry. It is also great that this type of ride can be enjoyed by every member of your family.

As for roller coasters, Tusenfryd has one called Speed Monster. It launches riders at hyper-speed around its 70 metres (230 feet) of track. You become completely weightless no less than seven times, even though there are only three inversions! It is one of the most thrilling experiences in an amusement park that already boasts more than its fair share of thrills.
