Universal Studios Orlando

Orlando, Florida, United States of America

User Rating     : 4 out of 5

Universal Studios Orlando is Walt Disney World’s biggest competitor. The purpose of this gargantuan theme park is to enable tourists to “ride the movies”. As such, both the studio’s classic films and their more modern hits have been transformed into larger-than-life, interactive experiences, which the whole family is sure to enjoy.

One of these experiences is called Revenge of the Mummy. This is an indoor roller coaster, many parts of which take place in total darkness at top speeds of up to 72 kmph (45 mph). Some coaster enthusiasts claim that this is the best ride in any of the Orlando area parks.

There are some spectacular shows, too. One of the best, although it requires an extra ticket, is Blue Man Group. As anyone who has seen this show can tell you, it is unlike anything you have ever seen before. In essence, it is a rock band, but it is also so much more. The entire auditorium is continually filled with this imaginative spectacle. It has to be seen to be believed.

  1. Watch Out for Restrictions 4 out of 5

Although there are plenty of rides to keep the entire family amused at Universal Studios, there are also a number of rides which have height restrictions. If, like me, you go there with younger children you may find that you can't go on some of the more famous rides because of your kids aren't tall enough. Don't miss the back lot tour, even if the queue is huge. It's well worth the wait!
