The largest island in the Mediterranean, Sicily is as captivating as it is diverse. For centuries, it has been at the crossroads of civilizations and each has left an indelible imprint on this Italian region. Verdura is perfectly positioned to explore the island with many historical and cultural sites situated close by and has two championship course plus a nine hole, par three course. The best holes and best terrain is spread across both courses, giving each a tremendous seaside closing run and an exciting central area that touches the blue waters of the Mediterranean.
The East course is the more diverse with two loops, constantly changing the direction of play and the influence of the wind. There is a decidedly Scottish links feel to a number of the holes with undulating fairways, thick rough and few trees in play. The short 6th is a photo opportunity; only 112m both the tee and the tiny green are right up against the sea and club selection is heavily influenced by the strength and direction of the wind. The unforgettable par four closing hole provides an appropriate close to an excellent course. 426 m long, cliffs line the right side of the fairway from tee to green with the Mediterranean crashing on the shore below.
