Lake Como, Italy
As a fan of sly heist films, Oceans 12 happens to be one of my favorite films. The scenes, in which Danny Ocean meets “The night fox” a French master thief, are shot here at Villa Erba. The absolutely stunning home is so ornately decorated, one feels as if they are in a lakeside art gallery, and the home itself, is quite the work of art. Once home to Luchino Visconti, the home now plays host to events of all kinds and makes for a stunning scene for visitors to come enjoy. It should be noted that the house is not a museum or even technically a tourist attraction and therefore one must be creative in getting a tour. I employed my own Oceans 12 persona in order to view this attraction which topped my list, acting as a high roller planning my wedding and viewing potential locations. Of course I would never encourage this sort of Tom Foolery be used, but when you want something bad enough, sometimes you just have to make it happen.
