Wales Mountain Biking

Wales, United Kingdom

Stellar, all-weather, singletrack trail centres like Afan Forest Park, or Parc Coedwig Afan, are popping up all over Wales. Downhilling, XC and freeriding are all part of the mix here.

If adrenaline is what you’re after, you’ll find it at Afan Forest Park on technical trails that offer breathtaking views and harrowing descents for only the most skilful cyclists. There are even gentle, family cycleways and low-level routes along disused railway line for those with children or more modest ambitions.

Afan Forest Park, located just minutes from the M4, is one of the fastest growing mountain bike hot spots in Britain, due in part to its amazing accessibility and its unbeatable terrain. The trails in this lovely forest park offer sculpted, fast-rolling singletrack through shaded forest to exposed, knobbly doubletrack on wide open hills. The trails have excellent flow and are rideable in all weather.

Five world-class trails make up the heart of this park and boast over a 100 kilometres (60 miles) of singletrack. Roots, rocks, twists and tight turns thrown in with a bit of exposure here and there and Afan lives up to its name as a place where both adrenaline junkies and XC enthusiasts can find something to ride.
