Warner Bros. Movie World

Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia

User Rating     : 5 out of 5

Warner Bros. Movie World, commonly referred to as simply Movie World, is a popular film-related theme park on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. In fact, it is the only movie-related amusement park in Australia.

Opened in 1991, Movie World has costumed characters roaming the park, so guests can have their pictures taken with such icons as Bugs Bunny, Marilyn Monroe and Batman. It is also noteworthy that there are several working movie studios on the premises in which visitors can sometimes participate. On the Main Street, there are street performances, such as a wild west shoot-out, and a parade with characters and floats.

One of the most popular attractions is the Batwing Spaceshot. A thrill ride built in 2006, this ride shoots riders straight up and down vertically at fast speeds. In fact, passengers reach a height of 61 metres (200 feet) and are propelled with four Gs of force!

The children’s area at Movie World is quite large, offering almost as many attractions as the rest of the park. Kids and adults alike enjoy the Looney Tunes River Ride, which is always a nice way to cool down and have some laughs.

  1. Fun for the whole family 4 out of 5

Movie World is at Oxenford on the Gold Coast and is a must visit place. See real movie sets and many characters from the stage and screen. All your favorite cartoon characters can be found roaming around and Batemans presence ensures their good behavior. See a great live stunt driving show or take in a movie in 4D. There are lots of rides for young and old with some pretty good roller coasters for the thrill seekers yet some smaller ones for the younger kids. Movie World is ideal family entertainment. You are not permitted to bring your own food and there is a no Esky policy in place but there are cafes and fast food outlets and plenty of places to grab a drink or ice cream. Movie World is open 7 days a week except for Christmas day and Anzac day. Gold Coast Bus Service runs to Movie World and for those who like to drive their car there is a rather large car park.

  2. As good as Universal 5 out of 5

Movie World on the Gold Coast is as good as Universal Studios, with one exception there is no studio tour which is a shame. Rides good, shows good and weather can be fantastic.
