Warwick Castle

User Rating     : 5 out of 5

Warwick Castle, is an intriguing medieval castle in Warwick, England. It was originally built in 1068 by none other than William the Conquerer, but was used from 1088 until 1978 as the chief residence of the Earls of Warwick. The castle has seen its fair share of action in that time withstanding attacks during the Hundred Years War and the English Civil War among others. Replete with turrets, drawbridges, moat and dungeons, this is the kind of castle that you are likely to conjure in your mind when you envision “castles” and visiting it in real life will not disappoint.

Warwick Castle is a great place to take the family. It’s not a run down ruins type of castle, its full of exhibits and ‘experiences’ which really brings history to life. If you thought history was boring then come here, you’ll soon change your mind.

A real castle this one and easy to reach being almost in the dead centre of England and close to Stratford. If you time it well as we did then the castle comes alive with jousting tournaments and dressed up knights which makes for a lot of fun.

One of the best castles in the UK and lots to do there. Combines well with a trip to Stratford upon Avon.

This one is for families. Highlights of our day at Warwick Castle is the largest siege engine in the world; the jousting tournament and loads more that happens. A lot more than bricks this place. There was even an interactive display "Dream of Battle". If you want more than a castle then try Warwick.
