Yokohama, Japan
Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise is a ‘pay as you go’ amusement park. Essentially, there is no entrance charge, so guests only pay for the attractions they wish to experience, although they do have the option of purchasing a day pass for this charming, romantic park.
The amusement park, in the traditional sense, is not all that is located here. There is aslo a very large aquarium. In fact, it is the largest in Japan! It has over 100,000 creatures living in it, representing over 500 distinct species. Three storey windows and underwater tunnels all come together to make this aquarium one of the most popular attractions in the park.
In the amusement park section itself, one of the most popular rides is called Blue Fall. It is a tower that reaches 107 metres (351 feet) into the sky. This park also contains the nation’s first ‘surf coaster’, which has track built over the ocean!
There are also more traditional rides, such as a merry-go-round with thousands of lights and a log flume ride.
