Bangkok Transport

According to the size of the Bangkok city, the transportation infrastructure is limited here. Skytrain is the best option available which is an elevated Bangkok Transit System (BTS) to go from one place to another easily and quickly. The second best option is underground (MRT) rail systems which connect the main shopping, entertainment and business areas of the city. Besides the BTS and MRT, the easiest, convenient but costly way to get around Bangkok is by taxi. The taxis are owned by government or private owners. They are spacious and are available easily around hotels, shopping malls and other tourist attractions.

River taxis and express boats can be used to visit historic sites and attractions which are near or at the riverside. These types of taxis are cheap to visit such places as the distances are more and other modes of transportation are time consuming. Tuk-tuks can be used as riding fun for nearby places as these are slow but cheap. If you want to have a real and internal feel of the city then you can choose buses which might be slow and old. On the faster side, you can get motorbike taxis which are fast and efficient but only adventures people can use it. For the adventurous ride, you can also choose bicycle which is not considered a very safe option.

Wherever you are in a mood to travel around the city, the first step should be to arrange for a map and plan your route to visit desired places. After that, you should select a sensible mode of transport from the available options. Depending upon the visiting place, you can also choose a combination of transport options to reach your destination. There are many places in Bangkok where two lines of the BTS and MRT line inter-connect so it is possible to shift over from one to another according to the requirement. It is not wise to trust taxi and Tuk-tuk drivers with great promises of cheap stay, seafood restaurants and discounted shopping places as the end result is agonizing most of the time.
