Barcelona hotels

Pulsing day and night with a vibe that’s unique to the city, Barcelona is one place that rates highly on the cool-scale in terms of the best destinations in Europe. But with your daytime itinerary figured out, and your evening plans being to go with the flow and see where Barcelona’s renowned nightlife decides to take you, all that’s left is the accommodation. Hotels in Barcelona are available for all budgets and tastes, and are located all throughout, from the city centre to locations on the outskirts that are better suited to the highways circling the city or the El Prat Airport that serves Barcelona for most domestic and international flights.

Centrally-located top-of-the-range hotels include the Gran Hotel Torre Catalunya, Eurostars Grand Marina, and Royal Ramblas, and they come with the full range of first-class services that you come to expect from a four or five star spa hotel or luxury hotel. Of the better-known hotels, one stands out for a mention in terms of city-central chic and health club facilities. Hotel 1898 is a mere 200 metres from Pla├ža de Catalunya, along Barcelona’s most famous boulevard La Rambla, and charms guests with its renovated contemporary yet colonial-style rooms and seasonal rooftop swimming pool. It wasn’t always a top-notch Barcelona hotel, but has its origins as the former headquarters of the Philippine Tobacco Company, dating back to the late 19th century.

On the other end of the price spectrum, but not compromised for charm, is the Residencia Australia, a budget hotel that also arranges apartment rentals. Cheap and cheerful, this hotel also has a city-central location, near the university, and owes its name to the Australian upbringing of the hospitable owner, Thomas.
