It’s easy to want to jet set into Singapore on your way around the world. Head off the plane and explore the city in no time with the help of the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) or Light Rapid Transit (LRT). The entire capital city is crawling with infrastructure. The city is a mix of massive expressways, skyscrapers, and incredibly clean streets. If time is an issue head get on a Singapore River Cruise, it’s a refreshing and cool way to see the city center. If you have more time take the MRT to The Esplanade for a great walk around the entire Singapore urban splendor. Sample the local cuisine, a mix of Malay, Chinese, Indian, and Indonesian.

The local restaurants will always have a special, go with the recommendation. If you’re stopping over for some last minute shopping, head directly to Orchard MRT Station. This one-way retail road extravaganza will somehow keep pulling your credit card out of your wallet.  Not only is it the President of Singapore’s address it’s also a club, coffee house, and café district. Spend an afternoon walking the famous Arab St in Singapore, the quirky collection of houses and window shops are a huge contrast to the rest of the city. Little India will also serve as a not so-Singapore side of town, with deafening Hindi, bright lights. and dirty streets. If you’re hungry for Indian walk over to Tekka Market for local fare and market shopping.

If you’re looking to relax, pull up a bejeweled pillow and a hookah of sheesha, at one of the many Little India smoking cafes. If you’re looking for a little history visit the Sultan Mosque, known as Masjid Sultan. Frequently listed as one of the most beautiful mosques in the world, this Arabian Nights golden domed castle will make you wish you had a magic carpet. For an entirely different cultural approach to the city visit the eclectic Chinatown. Easy to explore on your leisure, Chinatown is a historic district full of art, markets, and local flair. If you have more time to visit Singapore before your final destination, take the family to the Singapore Zoo. See exotic animals in a totally open environment.

The Singapore Zoo prides their park with natural barriers for birds and wildlife. This isn’t your typical chain-link fence zoo; you are in a true walking jungle. If you think you can brave the wild at dark, look into take the Night Safari. Many visitors mistake Singapore as an unfriendly country in SE Asia. Yes, it’s true you cannot chew gum and littering is a crime. There are some irregular legalities, but that aside, the country is an incredible holiday destination in a safe and stable environment. The country is moderately expensive to explore, but the clean streets and expansive amenities afford a jaw-dropping city of lights. The views of the skyscraping bay and the port of Singapore will top your traveling charts.
