The entire movie of ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’ is filmed in the beautiful places of the UK.  There is no doubt about the fact that a large part of the exterior of ‘Hogwarts School’ is a computer generated but the scenes inside the school are filmed in various locations in the UK.

The house of the dreadful Dursleys is located in Berkshire at 4 Privet Drive. When you visit it, you will realize that it is just one rail stop away from Bracknell. London zoo at the northern edge of Regent’s Park is one of the oldest and finest locations of the film. The scenes in which Harry realizes that he can talk to snakes and liberates the boa constrictor are filmed at the Reptile House of Regent’s Park Zoo.

Visiting London with your kids without going to London zoo is highly irrational. It is not only a zoo but the oldest scientific zoo which houses more than 755 animal species. Leadenhall Market, London is a place where the scenes of the entrance to ‘The Leaky Cauldron’ which is a pub and inn for wizards are filmed. In addition to this, the scenes of Diagon Alley which is a fictional high street are also shot in the area of Leadenhall Market.

If you are fond of shopping then do not forget to go to Leadenhall Market, which is located at Gracechurch Street. The exterior of Gringott’s Bank which is the only bank of the wizards is a set but the interior is filmed in the Exhibition Hall of Australia House, with its chandeliers and Australian marble columns. The Exhibition Hall of Australia House is located near Strand England and is managed by Australian High Commission. Although it is not open to the public, but you can visit it during specific timing. You can stay in many good hotels like Waldorf Hilton and Swissôtel the Howard – London, etc. in this area if you have a plan of staying for few days.

The scene in which Harry sets the owl flying is filmed in a religious building of Durham Cathedral in the city of Durham, England. The scenes of the departure of the Hogwarts Express from Platform 9 ¾ are filmed at King’s Cross Station, London NW1. Platform 9 ¾ is actually the arched wall between Platforms 4 and 5.

The GWR 4900 Class 5972 Olton Hall is the steam engine used in the film as the Hogwarts Express, which you can see at King’s Cross Station, London. Lacock Abbey is another captivating location of the film ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’. Some interior sequences of the movie are filmed at Lacock, including the cloister walk. Few classroom scenes are also filmed at Lacock.

Lacock Abbey in the village of Lacock, England is the worth-seeing historical place. You can take your kids to Lacock Abbey on vacation. It is one of the best places for kids as it offers fun with knowledge. Other worth-seeing places where the film is shot are Alnwick Castle, Northumberland, and Harrow Old Schools, Harrow-on-the-Hill in Greater London.
