SeaWorld Orlando California

SeaWorld Orlando

The SeaWorld franchise started in 1964 in San Diego , California and, having found success the owners decided to open several other parks too. When they saw how successful the new Disney Magic Kingdom was in Florida they decided on Orlando , Florida as the home for one of their new theme parks and SeaWorld Orlando was born in 1973.

Primarily along the lines of an aquarium, SeaWorld operates on a far larger scale than most aquariums do and has the majority of its attractions outdoors. SeaWorld also combines amusement park attractions, offering rides including three roller coasters and many other family fun attractions such as live entertainment and shows.

One of the highlights of SeaWorld Orlando has always been the killer whale shows which take place in Shamu Stadium. Here children and adults can be rapidly cooled down from the Floridian heat if sitting in the ‘splash zone’! There’s also the whale and dolphin theatre for acrobatic shows as well and visitors can see dolphins up close in Dolphin Cove and the Dolphiattn Nursery.

Amongst the other attractions at SeaWorld Orlando is the Wild Arctic exhibit and ride which features polar bears, beluga whales and walruses and has been made to look like an Arctic Ocean research facility.

The 400 feet tall Sky Tower , which has been a feature of the park since opening in 1973, has always been popular. This is an observation tower with a difference as the capsule rotates slowly around whilst rising up to the top, then back down again at a leisurely pace, taking 6 minutes. During this time visitors get great views of the whole of SeaWorld and as far as Downtown Orlando.

There are a number of places to eat in SeaWorld though the Sharks Underwater Grill is particularly impressive where visitors can dine whilst watching sharks swimming past!

SeaWorld Orlando is located on SeaWorld Drive though the main entrance is off Central Florida Parkway between International Drive and Sea Harbor Drive and is close to all the other Orlando attractions including Universal Studios.
