Singapore (the Lion city) is one of the more popular tourist destinations in the East due to its position The standard of living is high and English is the formal language of the country which has over 4 million residents, mostly of Chinese origin.

Singapore is an island nation at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula that was used by the British as a strategic trading post in the early 19th century. It currently consists of 63 islands. Next in the list is the Jurong Bird park and the Botanical garden full of rare orchid collections. The city of Singapore has an amazing Zoo with a fantastic night safari that will thrill people of all ages. Other attractions include the Thian Hock Keng Temple, Culinary Academy and Spice garden, Asian Civilizations Museum, National Orchid garden, Little India with its quaint temples and bazaars, Suntec City mall, China Town, National Museum of Singapore, etc. Also add cruises and beach activities for the family.

Singapore has a tropical rainforest climate and the temperature ranges from 22 degrees C to 34 degrees C. High humidity is present most of the year. The hottest months are June and July with the monsoons visiting in November and December. The length of each day is constant throughout the year due to its proximity to the equator.

Singapore is very strict about certain items – for example, chewing gum is banned and graffiti is punishable by lashings. Tourist with drugs in possession may be arrested immediately. Most people including tourists who break any of their laws may be punished severely.
