World's best afternoon tea

World’s best afternoon tea

The eGuide travel researchers do enjoy afternoon tea and an Australian custom. The team as it travel and inspects looks for the best. Do help us find more and put on the travel blog your suggestions and we will follow up.

Mount Nelson Hotel, Cape Town

Afternoon tea in Mount Nelson Hotel

Offering afternoon tea for 100 years in the shadow of Table Mountain. A self service tea buffet and tea served to the table with an egg timer to ensure it blends for the correct time.

Service is efficient, friendly and organised. The lounge has colonial chairs and the verandah looks out over the lawn. Very much an instruction in Cape Town so do book. And it is very reasonably priced.

Oriental Hotel, Bangkok

Afternoon tea in Oriental Hotel, Bangkok

A favourite with David. Impeccable Thai service, lots of history and all easily easy seen in the Authors lounge. Not a large operation and so you will need to book. Tea is served to the table along with pastries, cakes, sandwiches served on platters to the table and plenty to go at. A strict dress code applies at the Oriental and so do not be too casual, David was not admitted on his first attempt.

Intercontinental Hotel, Sydney

Afternoon tea in Intercontinental Hotel, Sydney

An Australian entry where tea is served in the foyer of this hotel used by George Bush when he visited do APEC. Plenty to eat, good sparking wines and tea well made. A buffet style operation and if you stay in the hotel can be served to your room!
