Situated on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, Algiers is the biggest and most important city in Algeria. A large structure to visit in the city is the Martyrs Memorial. Constructed of concrete, the Martyrs Memorial features three curved panels that join to form a unique monument. Algiers’ 5 July 1962 Stadium is a large venue that hosts international soccer games. An older building in the city is the Grand Post Office, a century old it has a distinctive white appearance and arched entrances. Resorts are located in Algiers and the surrounding area.
